CEDOFEITA LIVE x RCA -
Pedro Alves de Sousa + Gabriel Ferrandini
On the 5th of June of 2025, we went to Radioclube Agramonte and recorded the concert of Pedro Alves de Sousa and Gabriel Ferrandini, in the bar.
"Pedro Alves Sousa is far from a novice. He's been in this world for 36 years, debuted in a show at 19, released the debut album of his "first real band," OTO, in 2008, and throughout the past decade has edited and played with various groups and individuals."
"Ferrandini is a US-born percussionist of Portuguese, Mozambican, Brazilian and Italian descent and a key figure on the Lisbon free jazz scene as a past member of both the RED Trio and Rodrigo Amado Motion Trio, both based in the Portuguese capital."
"The friendship between these two musicians, Pedro Sousa and Gabriel Ferrandini, helped guide and define both their trajectories. They met many years ago in the Cascais area and grew artistically together, involved in the same projects, from structured bands and ad hoc musical encounters to managing the short-lived Bar Irreal, one of the most interesting and special cultural spaces that Lisbon has seen born and die in recent years. Whether in the Peter Gabriel Duo, the Lisbon Freedom Unit, CAVEIRA, Má Estrela, or in shows with world-famous improvisers, we've heard them playing everything from jazz and improvised music to noise rock and electronica. It's not just versatility; it's a reflection of the omnivorous way they, and a good part (the best part) of our generation, relate to music. Pedro, for example, grew up listening to rock "influenced by his father and because that's what was on the radio": Nirvana, Metallica, the first nu-metal albums. But then Soulseek appeared in his life and, connected to the internet, he fell in love with Mr. Bungle and Dillinger Escape Plan, discovered Aphex Twin and Autechre, and surrendered to free jazz."
